The IIIrd International Competition for young composers N. Myaskovsky

Requirements 

  • the applicants should submit one own free-form composition for piano trio / piano quartet or piano quintet (duration 10 – 15 minutes).
  • only pieces which hasn’t been published and/or officially performed before can be submitted for the Competition
  • not more than one composition from one applicant may be submitted for the Competition.

Aims 

  • Search for the most talented young composers, support and stimulate their professional skills;
  • Popularize of modern academic music;
  • Develop of national music education;
  • State of a high professional lath for composers within modern musical process;
  • Strengthen of creative communications between musical high schools from Russia and from abroad;
  • Stimulate creative contacts between composers and performers;
  • Provide favorable conditions for interaction of composers and an audience;
  • Promote the status of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory as an important European musical center.

Applications 

  • the competition is open to professional composers of all nationalities born after January 1th, 1979, except the laureates of the previous International N. Myaskovsky Composers Competitions
  •  the filled out application form (can be downloaded on Moscow Conservatory web site – http://mosconsv.ru/en/ in .doc format) must be supplemented with the following scanned documents:
    - the score and the parts in .pdf-format signed by the participant’s identification password only (the password should be invented). No names, signs, tokens or any other personal information are allowed on the score and the parts under penalty of disqualification
    - a copy of passport or any other ID-card (the pages with photograph and personal signature are required)
    - a document or diploma confirming contestant's musical education level
    - a certificate from the employer (if employed) or from the educational institution (for students) confirming the employment/studies
    - curriculum vitae including date and place of birth, educational institution (actual or graduated), years of studies, teachers, previous competitions (year, country, city and award), any other important information
    - one recommendation from the educational institution (high school, college etc.) or two recommendations from renowned musicians
    - one digital photo – not less than 300 dpi/2Mb by size (portrait-type, neutral background,  artistically performed)
    - a receipt of payment of the entrance fee
    - a permission for processing the applicant’s personal data (a scanned document written in a free mode with personal signature required)
  • all these documents and photos should be sent by e-mail to art-department@mail.ru
  •  the printed version of the score and the parts (in duplicate) signed by the participant’s identification password only (the envelope should be signed by the real name of the applicant) should be sent by express delivery service and arrive at the Organizing Committee not later than January 15th, 2014 to the address:

  • the printed scores and parts should be two-sided, stitched and have mirror margins
  • the Organizing committee has the right to reject the applications if the printed scores don’t satisfy the requirements or arrive later than on January 15th, 2014 cause of delivery services failure
  • not later than January 25th, 2014 all the contestants allowed to the I Round of the Competition will be officially informed about the admission to the Competition and the required date of arrival
  • the list of participants of the First round as a list of identification passwords will be published on the web-site of the Moscow state P.I. Tchaikovsky conservatory not later January 25, 2014.
  • entrance fee, non-refundable under any circumstances, is
    - 2000 RUR
    for applicants from Russia and CIS-members countries
    - 70 USD or 50 EUR
    for applicants from abroad

Procedure 

Competition includes three rounds – Preliminary (in absentia), the 1st and 2nd Rounds (live).

The preliminary round is held on January 16 - 24, 2014 and implies the examination of the participants' scores by judges. This round is anonymous.

The list of participants of the First round as a list of identification passwords will be published on the web-site of the Moscow state P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory not later January 25, 2014. The selected participants should arrive in Moscow according to the dates indicated in the official notification issued by the Organizing committee.

I round is held on March 4, 2014 in Myaskovsky Hall of the Moscow Conservatory as a public concert.

II round is held on March 5, 2014 in Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow Conservatory as a public concert.

Prizes 

  • 1 Prize — 100 000 rubles
  • 2 Prize — 75 000 rubles
  • 3 Prize — 50 000 rubles
  • two diplomas of 30 000 rubles each

The Jury has right:

  • to award special prizes
  • to divide prizes between participants
  • to award not all diplomas and awards
  • not to award the first prize.

All the money prizes are paid in Russian rubles and are subject of taxation accordingly to the tax laws of the Russian Federation.

Additional prizes may be awarded with the approval of the Organizing Committee to the participants of the public rounds by governmental, non-governmental or commercial organizations, foundations, artistic unions, mass media and private individuals.

The decisions of the Jury are final and cannot be contested. 

Financial conditions

  • the transportation and alimentation expenses for the participants and accompanying persons are covered by the contestants themselves or the represented organization
  • the accommodation for the participants of the public rounds (I and II) is provided by the Organizing Committee for March 3-6th, 2013
  • issuing invitations and visa support are provided by the Organizing Committee
  • once received the official notifications from the Organizing Committee the participants from abroad should contact the nearest Russian Embassy or Consulate to submit the visa processing. All visa expenses are paid by the contestants accordingly to the Russian Consulates requirements
  • the submission and entry into the Competition means an unconditional consent to all of above terms and conditions
  • the participants of the Competition do not receive any fee for their performance at the Competition or for the distribution of the recordings and broadcasts of these performances
  • the Organizing Committee of the Competition has the exclusive rights on the audio and video records and broadcasts of the Competition auditions and the final concert of the laureates
  • in case of any arguments concerning the interpretation of present terms and conditions of the Competition, the Russian version is to be considered principal
