The auditions of Round Two will be held in the form of a concert on 12 May 2023 at 14:00 at the Nikolai Myaskovsky Concert Hall.

The Organizing Committee reminds that, according to clauses 4.6.1 & 4.6.2 of the Regulations, the Parent of each competitor must organize decent-quality performances of all Pieces admitted to participate in Round Two. Such performances have to be done individually at such a Parent’s own expense. In the event it is impossible to organize decent-quality performances of all the Pieces, such a competitor’s Parent is obligated to submit to the Working Group, in advance, decent-quality video recordings of the performances of all the Pieces as MP4 files for their public demonstration at the time and venue to be announced by the Working Group.

Annex of the Year 2023 to Regulations on the International Competition of Junior Composers of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s Center for Organizing Its Graduates’ Practical Training and Careers

A.1. General Provisions

A.1.0. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory is hereinafter to be referred to as “the Moscow Conservatory,” briefly “TMSC.”

A.1.1. The full official name of the competition is The Fifth International Competition of Junior Composers of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s Center for Organizing Its Graduates’ Practical Training and Careers (hereinafter to be referred to as “the 5th Competition of TMSC’s COGPTC”).

A.1.2. The dates of holding the 5th Competition of TMSC’s COGPTC are 1–12 May 2023 inclusive.

A.2. The Prizes of the 5th Competition of the Moscow Conservatory’s COGPTC

A.2.2. The Working Group of the 5th Competition of TMSC’s COGPTC (hereinafter to be referred to as “the Working Group”) has established nine monetary prizes (three in each age category), three non-monetary diplomas (one in each age category), and one personal monetary prize (for all age categories):

  • (1) three First Prizes amounting to 15,000 (fifteen thousand) rubles each;
  • (2) three Second Prizes amounting to 10,000 (ten thousand) rubles each;
  • (3) three Third Prizes amounting to 5000 (five thousand) rubles each;
  • (4) three non-monetary diplomas;
  • (5) Prof. Alexander Chaykovsky’s Personal Prize amounting to 5000 (five thousand) rubles.

  • Dr. Zang Ting (China): PhD at the Harbin Conservatory of Music, post-doctorate student of the Central Conservatory of Music (Beijing), member of the Young Composers’ Union of the Jilin Province, guest researcher at TMSC, laureate of international competitions
  • Long Xingyu (China): third-year student of TMSC’s Composition Department (teaching practice supervised by Assc. Prof. Dubkova), laureate of international competitions
  • Yang Haoming (China): first-year post-graduate student of TMSC’s Composition Department (teaching practice supervised by Assc. Prof. Dubkova), laureate of international competitions
  • Igor Shamanov (Russia): third-year student of TMSC’s Composition Department (teaching practice supervised by Assc. Prof. Komissarenko)

A.4. Procedure for Holding the 5th Competition of the Moscow Conservatory’s COGPTC

A.4.3.2. The auditions of Round Two will be held in the form of a concert scheduled for 12 May 2023 at 14:00 at the Nikolai Myaskovsky Concert Hall.

A.5. Procedure for Submitting the Application, the Documents and the Competing Pieces

A.5.1. In order to participate in the 5th Competition of TMSC’s COGPTC, the following documents have to be scanned and forwarded to the Working Group’s official e-mail address:

  • A.5.1.1. the application filled out and signed by the applicant’s parent or any other legal representative (hereinafter to be generically referred to as “the Parent”); download *.DOC
  • A.5.1.2. the consent for processing the applicant’s personal data with his/her Parent’s personal signature. download *.DOC
  • See the description of the other necessary documents in the text of the Regulations (clauses 5.1.3, 5.1.4, 5.1.5 and 5.3).

A.5.2.1. Also, in order to participate in the 5th Competition of TMSC’s COGPTC, every applicant must submit two pieces composed by him/her personally, contrasting in their characters, of any formal structures whatsoever (hereinafter to be referred to as “the Pieces”), presented as:

  • (1) the scores of both Pieces to be signed by the applicant’s identifying password only (hereinafter to be referred to as “the Password”), with no name on them, as PDF files, provided that the names of both graphic files have to contain only the Password and the number 1 or 2 at the end, respectively;
  • (2) the audio recordings of both Pieces as MP3 files, provided that the names of both audio files have to contain only the Password and the number 1 or 2 at the end, respectively;
  • (3) brief summaries for both Pieces to be signed by the Password only, with no name on them, as DOC or DOCX files, provided that the names of both text files have to contain only the Password and the number 1 or 2 at the end, respectively. The length of each summary has to be no shorter than three sentences and no longer than 1000 characters (including spaces). The content of both summaries is free (at the discretion of the applicant and/or his/her Parent).

A.5.2.2. The following four options of the lists of instruments are possible for both Pieces:

  • (1) one academic voice (of any range), solo;
  • (2) one instrument of the contemporary symphony orchestra (any), solo;
  • (3) an ensemble of any instruments, from two to five performers inclusive;
  • (4) an academic voice (of any range) accompanied by an ensemble of any instruments, from one to four performers inclusive.

A.5.4. The deadline for submitting to the Working Group the application, the documents, the Pieces and the receipt on the payment of the registration fee in order to participate in the 5th Competition of TMSC’s COGPTC is 30 April 2023.

A.6. The Financial Term of the 5th Competition of the Moscow Conservatory’s COGPTC

A.6.2. The amount of the registration fee for the participation is 1500 (one thousand five hundred) Russian rubles.
