2000 — winner of the First Prize in Conducting at the XIX International Festival of Church Music in Hainuvka, Poland.

April 27, 2003  — awarded the Patriarchal Certificate of Merit "In blessing for hard work for the glory of the Russian Orthodox Church " by Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia.

April 27, 2008  — awarded the Medal of the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Sergius, 2nd degree, by Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia.

January 2014 — awarded a "Blessed Letter of Commendation" by Merkuriy, Metropolitan of Rostov and Novocherkassk , chairman of the Synodal Department for Religious Education and Catechesis of the Russian Orthodox Church, for the January 29, 2014 participation of the Men's Choir of the Moscow Representation of Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra) in the Kremlin Concert Hall and the Concert Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in the context of the XXII International Christmas Educational Readings.

Biography

Born in Moscow.

1986 to 1988 — studied in the Department of Theory and Composition at the Tchaikovsky Music College in Yekaterinburg.

1988 to 1992 — studied in the Department of Theory and Composition at the Musical College of the Moscow State Conservatory.

1992  — entered the Conducting and Choral Department at the Music College of the Moscow State Conservatory; graduated in 1993 in the class Yu. Bibin.

1993  — entered the Conducting and Choral Department of the Moscow State Conservatory in the class of Associate Professor Yu.F.Radyshkevich .

1994 to 2000 — studied composition at the Moscow State Conservatory under Professor Roman Ledenev.

Professional activities

1995  — joined the professional Male Choir of the Moscow Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra), directed by Hieromonk Theodosius (Ushakov).

1996  — became the choir director of the Monastic Choir of the Moscow

Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra).

1998  — graduated from the Choral Conducting Department of the Moscow Conservatory under Professor Boris Tevlin; became Head Choirmaster of the professional Male Choir of the Moscow Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra).

2000  — graduated from the Department of Orchestral (Operatic and Symphonic) Conducting, under Professor Igor Dronov.

Since 2001 - invited conductor of the Smolensk Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra (Russia).

December 2003 — founded another Choir the Amateur Men’s Choir of the Moscow Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra); began the development of an educational program (now over 10 years old), of teaching singing and church music conducting to people who have had no prior musical education . It is this educational system and program that served as the basis for the establishment in 2013 of the Patriarch TIkhon Russian-American Music Institute (PaTRAM) in the United States.

2004 - the professional Male Choir of the Moscow Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra), under Vladimir Gorbik, sang the Prayer Service in the Kremlin Annunciation Cathedral at the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

2007  — became Artistic Director and Training Supervisor at the Choral School of the Moscow Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra), where children are trained in the art of choral church singing.

The professional Male Choir of the Moscow Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra) under Vladimir Gorbik, in addition to performing their appointed liturgical duties at the Representation Church, regularly sings worship services in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin, and also performs concerts of sacred music in prominent concert halls throughout Moscow:

The Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow Conservatory,

The Tchaikovsky Concert Hall,

The concert and liturgical activities of the professional Male Choir of the Moscow Representation Church of the Holy Trinity-St.Sergius Monastery (Lavra) have also taken place in other cities in Russia, Israel, Germany, and Poland.

2008 — the professional Male Choir of the Moscow Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra), under Vladimir Gorbik, sang the Prayer Service in the Kremlin Annunciation Cathedral at the inauguration of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Since 2012 — began to teach Conducting at the Faculty of Symphonic and Choral Conducting of the Moscow State Conservatory.

Between June 2012 to September 2014, gave seven master classes of conducting and working with different choirs in the United States at:

St. Vladimir's Seminary in Crestwood, New York,

St. Tikhon's Seminary , South Canaan, Pennsylvania, on two occasions,

St. Seraphim's Church , Santa Rosa, California,

Holy Trinity Seminary, Jordanville, New York, 

St. Alexandr Nevsky's Cathedral Church, Lakewood, New Jersey.

February 11-12, 2013 — taught a master-class for choir directors in Saratov, Russia.

April 8-9, 2013 — taught master classes for the Cathedral Choir, the Choir of the Precentors School, and Choir of the Men’s Seminary in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Spring 2013 — became the Co-founder, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Patriarch Tikhon Choir in the United States, which, following a master class at St. Tikhon's Seminary in September 2013 gave concerts in New York, Pittsburgh and Washington.

September 2013 — became Co-founder and Rector of the newly established Patriarch Tikhon Russian-American Music Institute in the United States.

November 10, 2013 — one of several conductors from the Conducting and Choral Department invited to the conduct the Moscow Conservatory Choir at the Rachmaninov Hall of the Conservatory in the context of the Choral Conference devoted to the 90th anniversary of the Moscow Conservatory Choral Department.

March 27, 2014 — the professional Male Choir of the Moscow Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra), under Vladimir Gorbik, sang services in the Dormition Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin.

The 2013 documentary film “Sinodaly,” commissioned by Goskino of Russia (a Russian cinema company, which is like Hollywood in the USA), about the great choral conductors of the Moscow Synodal School of Church Singing. In this film The professional Male Choir of the Moscow Holy Representation of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra) and its conductor Vladimir Gorbik are the participants.

November, 2015 - taught a master-class in Irkutsk (Russia) for choir directors and the Student Choir of the Irkutsk Musical College of Friederich Chopin. The theme of the master class was Verdi Requiem.

November, 2015 - new CD "Praise the Lord, All Ye Nations" of The Patriarch Tikhon Choir (USA), that was recorded by one of the best American company "Sound Mirror" and published in the USA.

December, 2015 - taught a master class in Irkutsk (Russia) for The Irkutsk Metropolitan Male Choir "Znamenie" and had the concert tour in five different towns the Irkutsk region on the Baikal (Russia).

Fall, 2016 -- invited to teach a master class at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Australia).

Fall, 2016 - invited to teach a master class at the Boston Conservatory (USA).

Fall, 2017 - invited to conduct the Moscow Conservatory Orchestra

at the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory.
