Conditions
The Competition is open to professional musicians of all nationalities not younger than 23 years old (as of June 15, 2008). There is no upper age limit.
Prizes
The Sviatoslav Richter prize – USD 30 000
Second prize – USD 20 000
Third prize – USD 15 000
Fourth prize – USD 10 000

Prize of the Moscow city government to the best Russian participant – USD 3 000
Prize for the best performance of a classical concerto for piano and orchestra – USD 3 000 established by Richter Foundation
Prize of Moscow Tchaikovsky conservatory – USD 2 000
The Application Procedure
Applicants must complete and submit the attached application. It must have been postmarked by February 15, 2008 to be considered.
The application must include:
- Two 13 x 18 cm. (5 x 7 ins.) and one 4 x 6 cm. (1.6 x 2.3 ins.) glossy photographs
- A photocopy of the applicant’s passport or another official form of identification
- Two letters of recommendation from recognized musicians
- A DVD
- A bank receipt confirming the USD 100 application fee transfer

The steering committee shall inform the applicants about the decision regarding the admission to participation in the Competition not later than March 30, 2008.
Financial Terms
The Competition participants shall receive a reimbursement of the costs of return travel to Moscow, however not exceeding USD 500. Each participant will be provided with board and lodging free of charge, beginning on the day indicated in the official invitation to appear. Participants who do not advance to the second round may continue to stay in the hotel free of charge for 2 days after the end of the first round. Semi-finalists who do not advance to the final round shall receive a fee of USD 1000; they also may continue to stay in the hotel free of charge until the end of the Competition.

Repertoire
- First Round
The programme and its design will be freely determined by the participant and must consist of works in various styles.
- Second Round
The program must consist of compositions in various styles and from various periods, including two large-scale works (or one large-scale and one shorter composition) and one work composed after 1960. Participants may perform works of their own composition.
- Third Round. Final
The finalists shall perform successively two concertos for piano and orchestra, one from the group A and the other from the group B with the participation of the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Radio (Artistic Director Vladimir Fedoseyev).
