Terms and Conditions
GENERAL PROVISIONS
The founder of the Moscow Conservatory International Competition for Winds and Percussion is Moscow State P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
The Competition is to be held once a year for two out of nine disciplines - eight wind ones and one percussion. So, each discipline takes part in the Competition once in five years:
- 2009 / bassoon, tenor trombone
- 2010 / oboe, French horn
- 2011 / clarinet, trumpet
- 2012 / flute, tuba
- 2013 / percussion, wind quintet
AIMS of the COMPETITION:
- To raise prestige of the winds and percussion instruments; to make playing wind instruments more attractive to the wide audience
- To encourage young people to play wind and percussion instruments
- To pay more attention to professional training of musicians who perform on winds and percussion
- To search for the most talented young musicians, to support and stimulate their professional skill
- To provide the conditions for artistic cultural exchange, to enhance the artistic development and to improve the professional skills of the participants of the Competition
APPLICATIONS
- The applicants must be not younger than 16 and not older than 32 full years of age (on the day of the Competition – 23 November 2010).
- The winners of any other international or national competitions do not exempt from participation in the first round.
THE JURY
The most competent musicians – performers and pedagogues from all over the world are invited to the jury of the Competition.

THE PROCEDURE
- The auditions are held publicly, consist of three rounds and take place at the Small, Rachmaninov Halls of the Moscow Conservatory.
- The order of the participants’ performance is defined by means of draw and stay unchanged till the end.
- The order of performing of compositions is to be determined by the participant.
- No more than 50% of the first round participants could pass to the next round. No more than five participants could pass to the final round.
- The results will be announced immediately after each round.
- After the second round the Jury decides to award for the best accompanist of the Competition – one for each discipline.
- After the final round the Jury decides to award prizes of the Competition.
AWARDS
- The Organizing Committee of the Competition announces the following prizes for each discipline:
- First prize — 150 000 rubles and the title of the Laureate of the Competition
- Second prize — 100 000 rubles and the title of the Laureate of the Competition
- Third prize — 50 000 rubles and the title of the Laureate of the Competition
- Special prizes to the participants of the Competition are provided by the following companies:
- Two best accompanists will be awarded with diplomas and the prize of 5000 rubles each.
- All monetary prizes will be paid in Russian rubles withholding the taxes applicable on the territory of the Russian Federation.
- Additional prizes, awards and gifts may be presented with the approval of the Organizing Committee to the participants of the second and third rounds by governmental, non-government or commercial organizations, foundations, artistic unions, mass media and private individuals.
- The Jury has the right:
- to award not all the prizes;
- to share the awards among the participants of the third round with the exception of the first prize;
- to award the participants with two second prizes or two third prizes in case of the absence of the first or the second prize respectively.
- The decisions of the Jury are final and are not subject to reconsideration.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- The participants of the Competition do not receive any fee for their performance at the Competition or for any later utilization of the recordings and broadcasts of these performances.
- The Organizing Committee of the Competition keeps the exclusive rights on the realization of audio and video records and broadcasts of the Competition’s auditions and the final concert of the Competition’s laureates.
- The Laureates of the Competition are to perform gratis at the final concert of the Competition.
- The participants of the Competition can use gratis and in established order the practice auditoriums of the Moscow Conservatory.
- The Organizing Committee of the Competition helps the participants in obtaining the printed music of the compositions which are indicated in the mandatory program of the Competition.
- The application form signed by a person who wishes to take part in the Competition is regarded as an evidence that he/she accepts all the above-listed terms and conditions.
- In case of any arguments concerning the interpretation of present terms and conditions of the Competition, the Russian version of the text is to be considered the only correct one.
THE ENTRANCE FEE
The entrance fee amounting in 3000 (three thousand) rubles for participants from Russia and the countries of the CIS and $100 (a hundred) USA dollars or 80 (eighty) EURO for participants from all other countries must be transferred onto the account of Moscow State P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory simultaneously with sending the application form.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SENT
The filled out application form must be supplemented with the following documents:
- copy of two front pages of passport or other document of identification
- home address, telephone
- document or diploma about musical education (copy)
- curriculum vitae
- one photo 13õ18 cm.
- a copy of the Taxpayer’s Identification Number (INN) and the Pension Insurance Certificate (for citizens of the Russian Federation)
- receipt of the paid entrance fee

Program indicated in the application form could not be changed.
Applicants will receive Organizing Committee reply no later than October 20, 2010.
In case the applicant is not accepted as participant to the Competition the documents and the entrance fee are not be returned.
PROGRAM
For oboe
I round (not longer then 12 minutes, all the pieces must be played from memory)
- I. S. Bach. Partita BWV 1013 for oboe solo, Ist movement Allemande and IInd movement, Courante (with no repeats). Possible - in a minor or in g minor.
- R. Schumann. From Three romances op. 94, IInd movement, Einfach innig.
- N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov. Flight of the Bumblee-bee in f minor
II round (duration not longer then 30-35 minutes; all the pieces, except specially composed must be played from memory).
- One of the pieces in the list at the performers choice:
- F. Poulenc. Sonata for Oboe and Piano.
- P. Hindemith. Sonata for Oboe and Piano.
- P. Haas. Suite for Oboe and Piano.
- H. Dutilleux. Sonata for Oboe and Piano.
- B. Britten. Temporal variations for Oboe and Piano.
- P. Sancan. Sonatina for Oboe and Piano.
- Obbligatory piece: A. Ponchielli. Cappriccio for Oboe and Piano.
- Obbligatory, specially composed for the Competition piece (could be played from score). It will be on the site September, 23.
III round. Final. (duration 35-40 minutes)
- W. A. Mozart. Oboe Concerto KV314 (must be played from memory).
D. D. Schostakovich. From 24 preludes Op. 34, ten preludes transcribed for Oboe and Chamber Orchestra (could be played from score).
For French horn
I round (not longer then 12 minutes, all the pieces must be played from memory)
- L. Cherubini. Sonata ¹ 2 for French horn and piano in F major.
- À. Pakhmutova. Notturno for French horn and piano in Ces major.
II round (duration not longer then 30-35 minutes; all the pieces, except specially composed must be played from memory).
- R. Schumann. Adagio and Allegro for French horn and piano in as major, îð. 70.
- One of the pieces in the list at the performers choice:
- À. Scryabin. Notturno, op. 9, ¹ 2. Transcription for French horn and piano by À. Usov.
- R.Strauss. Andante for French horn and piano in C major.
- À. Glasunov. «Riviere» for French horn and piano in Des major, op. 24.
- Obbligatory, specially composed for the Competition piece (could be played from score). It will be on the site September, 23.

- A. Goedike. French horn Concerto f minor, op. 40 (could be played from score).
