Ivan Feodorovich Laskovsky was a Russian composer and pianist. He was an officer and later a clerk of the Military Ministry. He studied music with John Field. He wrote 78 published piano pieces (Ballades, Mazurkas, Waltzes, Ecossaises and works in other genres). His chief piano pieces (six notebooks) were published in two volumes after his death upon the initiative of Mily Balakirev, who edited them. Laskovsky also wrote three string quartets, a trio, a Tarantella for orchestra and other works.
