The Fourth Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition

The competition is held in four stages: pre-selection, first round, semi-finals and finals. Pre-selection of foreign participants will be held on the basis of their video presentations. Pre-selected applicants will be allowed to participate in the first round. Applications will be accepted from pianists of any citizenship born between 2 April 1993 and 1 April 2005.

Dates: 30 July — 7 August, 2022.
Application deadline is 15 January, 2022.

For pianists planning to apply for the competition, Kawai’s representative office in Russia offers a unique opportunity: the first twenty people who wish to record their video presentations may do so at Kawai’s Russian office free of charge. Contributions and Prizes

Participant’s fee: JPY 20,000 (taxes included)

First Prize: JPY 1,000,000, honorary certificate and award
The First Prize winner will be given the opportunity to perform at concerts organized by Kawai Musical Inst. Mfg. Co., Ltd.

Second Prize: JPY 500,000, honorary certificate and award

Third Prize: JPY 250,000, honorary certificate and award

Fourth Prize: JPY 150,000 and honorary certificate

Fifth Prize: JPY 100,000 and honorary certificate

Sixth prize: JPY 50,000 and honorary certificate

Audience Favorite: honorary certificate and award

The amounts are indicated after the income tax is deducted in Japan.

Special prizes from the Competition sponsors may also be awarded.
