Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory offers full-time educational programs of various levels in five majors:

  • The Art of Concert Performance (solo instruments)
  • Composition
  • The Art of Music and Theater
  • Musicology
  • The Artistic Direction of Symphony Orchestras and Academic Choirs

Pre-entry Training Program
(Duration: one or two years)

Persons who have either a bachelor’s degree in music or a high school degree with musical skills corresponding to those who have a bachelor’s degree in music, are to be admitted, provided that they successfully pass a creative exam in their major. The entering exam is held biannually: first in April–May, second in September.

Special Program of the Second-level Higher Education

(Duration: five years, the degree level is higher than the bachelor’s)

Persons who have either a bachelor’s degree in music or a high school degree with musical skills corresponding to those who have a bachelor’s degree in music, are to be admitted, provided that they have some knowledge of Russian and successfully pass a determined set of creative exams. The sets of entering exams are held biannually: first in April-May, second in September.

Programs of the Third-level Higher Education:

  • Two-year Postgraduate Studies without a Thesis
  • Three-year Postgraduate Studies with a Thesis to Be Defended

Persons who have a master’s degree in music and have knowledge of Russian are to be admitted. The sets of entering exams are held annually in July.

Individual Programs of Additional Training
(Duration: from three months to two years, or longer upon the trainee’s desire)

Persons who have a bachelor’s degree in music are to be admitted, provided that they successfully pass a creative exam in their major. The entering exam is held monthly during a time period from September till April.
